Delta Airlines is reportedly on the cusp of ordering up to 125 Bombardier CSeries commercial aircraft. The negotiations says that an agreement on firm orders for 75 aircraft and options on another 50 are expected to be completed by the end of April 2016, when the Atlanta-based airline has a board meeting.

Earlier on Thursday during a quarterly conference call with analysts earnings, Delta executives said they had no definite plans to announce yet about the renewal of the fleet of the company.

Delta incoming boss, Ed Bastian said the airline plans to provide more information on its fleet renewal plans an investor day on next May 16 then Bombardier refused to comment on the report.

This purchasement is the part of Delta plans, seeking new aircraft to replace its aging fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft.

If confirmed, the order would be a major boost for the aircraft manufacturer based in Montreal struggling. It has booked orders and commitments for 678 aircraft of the C series, including 250 firm orders.
