Abu Dhabi Airports Handles 8.7 Percent More Passengers

Abu Dhabi International Airports reported an increase of 8.7 percent in passenger traffic at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) to February compared with the same month last year.
A total of 1,863 million people traveled through AUH last month, surpassing the 1,715 million figure for the month of February 2015. "We continue to see annual growth in the number of passengers traveling through Abu Dhabi International Airport and this highlights the fact that the capital of the UAE continues to develop as a world tourist destination and center of strategic transport," he said Ahmad Al Haddabi, director of operations at the airports of Abu Dhabi.
"Traffic between India, UK, Thailand, Australia, USA and a number of others, all witnessed an increase in passenger numbers from AUH. Etihad Airways partner network has played an important role in the increase in these numbers, and are committed to ensuring the best airport services and infrastructure to accommodate this growth, "he added.
Aircraft movements in February 2016 reached 13,307 up 3.5 percent from 12,852 movements in February 2015. Bangkok, London Heathrow, Mumbai, Doha and Jeddah featured as the top five routes from Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Several destinations experienced significant growth in passenger traffic, with Australia beating their figures February 2015 by 45.2 percent last month, and the UK registering an increase of 18.8 percent over the same period.
